Nurturing Green Chilli Pepper Seeds

This hot Chilli produces tapering 15cm (6 ) long fruits which turn from green to fiery red as they ripen. With a compact upright habit and short internodes Chilli is ideal for growing in growbags or containers on the patio. This RHS AGM variety produces abundant crops if picked regularly throughout the summer. Height: 50cm (20 ). Spread: 40cm (16 ). Sow Chilli seeds on the surface of a good free-draining damp seed sowing mix and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Germination takes 7-10 days. Do not exclude light as this helps germination. When seedlings are large enough to handle transplant into individual 7.5cm pots of compost and grow on in cooler conditions.Chili may be grown undercover in a greenhouse or grown outdoors in a sheltered position in full sun. When growing chilli outdoors gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days prior to transplanting them. Space chilli plants at a distance of 50cm (20") apart.
