Cabdrivers in the Orient hang the bell to keep the vehicle safe, and to keep from being robbed while traveling through the city. Interestingly, there is an ingot for the clapper of the bell, and on the ingot are the numbers 9999, the number 9 being an extremely auspicious number, to ring in prosperity. Kwan Yin, Buddha and Tara decorate this bell, and a protective fire dragon drapes over the top of the bell.
