An ink cartridge, also called the inkjet cartridge is part of the inkjet printer. It contains the main component of a printer – the ink. A single cartridge can contain one or more ink reservoirs.
Inkjet printer manufacturers use either of the following two technologies to make these printers.
1. Thermal Technology – HP Inkjet cartridge and few other famous brands use this technology. There is a heating element with a tiny resistor inside each partition within the ink reservoir. As soon as current flows through this resistor, it gets warm. As a result the liquid ink in contact with this heated resistor vaporizes and is then forced to pass through the nozzle and deposit on the paper as an ink droplet. This entire process is very fast that it is over in less than a millisecond.
The ink helps cool the resistor, however with lower ink supply, the heating element will not be cooled properly and hence there is the chance of it being burnt thereby rendering the print head non-functional permanently. Hence changing the ink cartridge or refilling the cartridge is recommended before such a stage arrives.
2. Piezoelectric Technology – some other brands use this method. Here instead of the heating element a crystal is used that which can change shape when heated by electric current, hence called piezoelectric crystal. The crystal will either elongate or bend. This technology helps make much smaller ink drops than the thermal inkjet ones and the ink in this case does not generally clog the print head.
Ink cartridges are either black that is used for text and a CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) single or combined for color printing. Some cartridges have special inks for printing photographs. Companies like Hewlett Packard and some other brands manufacture the printer in such a way that the head and the cartridge need to be joined while some other keep the head separate from the cartridge. The integration of the printer head and the cartridge is done with the purpose of discouraging or making it illegal for other manufacturers to copy the cartridge design and working. One thing is common, however, amongst major printer makers – they make their own branded ink cartridges that render the printer compatible, to a greater extent with cartridges made by third parties.
Hewlett-Packard is an American multinational company specializing in making consumer products in the Information Technology industry. It was the largest personal computer maker from 2007 till 2013. In 2015, HP segregated its computer & printer division and its Enterprise products and services division. HP and AMD tied up in 2004 and ever since the HP ProLiant servers are all powdered by Amd processors

HP Ink cartridges are the only ones that are perfectly compatible with the HP Inkjet printers be it HP 301, HP 364 or HP 300 printer. The Hp Inkjet cartridge has been technically engineered at the microscopic level making the drops reach the paper 2000 times faster than the blink of the eye. Buying the original HP inkjet cartridges has the following benefits:-
• Quality and consistent print
• HP Inkjet cartridges prices are affordable & pocket-friendly
• Special discount when purchasing multi-pack
• Special Office Jet Value Packs to save on ink and high-quality paper
• HP inkjet cartridges, after years of research & development, have developed cartridges that are easy to recycle.
One essential aspect of inkjet cartridges is the dumping of these cartridges at the garbage dump sites and the impact this has on environment. It is estimated that by the year 2012, about 500 million laser cartridges and 1.8 million ink cartridges have been thrown in the landfills. Each cartridge takes about 425 to 1000 years to decompose and every ink cartridge develops about 1.6 kilograms of solid waste. With rising awareness about ill-effects of pollution and environment degradation, manufacturers of cartridges have slowly evolved systems to make recyclable cartridges, encourage consumers to purchase and use recycled link. Companies like HP have implemented programs to receive empty cartridges for refilling and reuse. HP has 4 Planet Ark Collection bins placed at most of its retail stores so that consumers can drop used cartridges here and these can then get recycled.
The HP inkjet cartridge refill kit is an economical alternative to buying a new cartridge other than being environmental friendly. When wanting to save costs, get the refill kits manufactured by authentic third-party manufacturers.
Sustainability is high focus area for Hewlett Packard. It has received the 2018 Energy Star® Partner

Some third party manufactures make printer refill ink for different HP Inkjet cartridges which consists of 4 syringes and refill ink of colors cyan, magenta, yellow and black in 75 ml bottles and accompanied by a user manual and gloves. This is not a product from the company itself but is highly recommended for people who are aware of the refilling process. Also one needs to make sure that the original cartridges are not worn out or defective because if they are then they will not function properly even after refilling. Hence before buying the refill kit one needs to make sure that the cartridge is in proper printing condition. Plus an empty cartridge lying idle for a long period of time will not work on refilling.
The advantage of refilling the HP Inkjet cartridge is the cost saving on the HP Inkjet cartridge price. Additionally its good from the environmental perspective as recycling in any form helps reduce the negative effects. The disadvantage is the refilling process complexity and time required to refill. Also some HP Inkjet cartridges can run properly only once after refill and some run for 4 to 5 refills. Finally one needs to find the exact compatibility factor and the quality of the ink before buying and using the refill kit.
